We organized a coding contest to challenge our students, as well as students from other colleges and schools, in a fun and educational way. All teams of two students were mentored by one AIAT teacher or industry professional. This created a unique learning environment with students from 10th standard to 3rd year Bachelor participating with great success.
The competition was based on the Cloudflight Coding Contest (CCC). The CCC is Europe's biggest coding competition with over 5000 participants across all age and skill levels. Last September, at the 40th anniversary of the contest, we were the first to officially host the CCC in India. As an official partner, we are also able to provide international certificates, medals, global rankings, t-shirts, and other prizes.
This time we picked one of the former classic challenges, Pac-Man. This included fun problems like counting the number of coins, moving around the map, trying to survive against the ghosts, or trying to collect all the coins. The unique gamified coding challenges guaranteed a joyful afternoon for all participants.
After the contest, our principal Dr. Sanjeev Ranganathan held an inspiring speech about the importance of skill in providing a meaningful education. It highlighted how most schools and colleges are not aimed toward understanding and practical knowledge. This means, that the existing education does not satisfy the student's true goals and purpose or the needs of the industry. The AIAT offers 3-year Bachelor of Vocation Degree Courses to combine theory and practical. This education for skills of the future enables students to truly learn, gain skills, and make a positive impact on themselves, their environment, and their job. The event ended with the official awarding of certificates, medals, and prizes by our principal and the contest organizer (our Austrian volunteer) @andreas0x41. We are looking forward to officially hosting the international competition again next September.
