“The future of India is designed, built, and coded by its national builders.”
Every nation stands tall on the foundation laid by its builders. In India’s journey of progress, two communities have played an extraordinary role—Engineers and IT Professionals. Together, they are not just creators of technology; they are the architects of modern India.
Every year, September 15th and September 16th give us an opportunity to honor them.
-
Engineers’ Day (September 15) commemorates the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (1861–1962), whose visionary work in irrigation, flood control, and infrastructure helped lay the foundation of India’s development.
-
National IT Professionals Day (September 16) recognizes the individuals who drive the digital revolution. For India, this day has special resonance, as IT has become the engine of economic growth and innovation.
The Architects of India’s Growth
India’s engineers and IT professionals are the silent force behind the nation’s rise:
-
Nation Builders: From dams and bridges to highways and smart cities, engineers have created the backbone of modern India.
-
Digital Pioneers: The IT industry contributes ~7.5% of India’s GDP (2022–23) and employs more than 5.4 million professionals, establishing India as a global technology hub.
-
Global Reach: With IT exports surpassing USD 200 billion annually, Indian talent is solving problems for businesses and governments worldwide.
-
Innovation at Scale: From Chandrayaan-3’s lunar success to Aadhaar’s world-leading digital identity system, Indian ingenuity continues to transform lives.
-
Empowering Generations: Beyond numbers, these sectors have created millions of jobs, empowered youth, and driven inclusive progress.
Together, they are the builders of India’s physical, digital, and economic foundations.
